Exciting News! PC Softball is going to Nationals!

PC Softball is headed to the NJCAA Div II National Tournament from May 22-26 in Clinton, Mississippi. The Bears hosted and won the NJCAA Region I Tournament this past weekend. They defeated Mesa CC 8-0 and Glendale CC 11-2 in preliminary games before beating Glendale CC again by a score of 7-0 in the final! PC with an overall record of 48-7 (43-5 in conference play) clinched the ACCAC Conference Title (beating out all the Division I schools). This marks their 17th-overall ACCAC title and their fifth-straight Region I title dating back to 2015.

“For me, the most rewarding part of this past year has been the building of relationships and building a team concept while bonding as a team. The outcome of us winning is because of the chemistry that you develop by spending so much time (8 months) together working on the relationship part,” said Head Coach Heinz Mueller.

Other highlights on the year:

  • Undefeated starting Pitcher, Briana Hardy was named ACCAC Pitcher of the Year and MVP of the Region I Tournament MVP with two complete game shutouts, 22 strikeouts and also contributing with her bat with 8 RBIs

  • Sophomore Hanna Krosky named ACCAC Div II Player of the Year

  • Six All Conference/All Region Selections. Joining Briana and Hanna are their teammates; Mackenzie Whitten, Sydnee Smith, Ela Henry and Haley Johnston. All six received All-American nominations (record number)

  • Head Coach Heinz Mueller (28th year) won his 1300 th game last season (only 2 nd coach in NJCAA history to have accomplished this feat). He has coached 125 All-Americans, 80 Academic All-Americans and over 182 student-athletes have received four-year softball scholarships, and over 250 have graduated from Phoenix College under his tenure
